By downloading, installing, or using AnswerSearch, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use AnswerSearch.

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms apply to AnswerSearch desktop software and related AnswerSearch web pages provided by ThisBrainAI LLC. They do not replace the terms, privacy policies, billing rules, or usage policies of any AI provider or third-party website.

What AnswerSearch Is

AnswerSearch is local-first desktop software developed by ThisBrainAI LLC. It provides a local user interface for asking questions and receiving AI-generated answers from on-device AI or an AI provider selected and configured by the user.

AnswerSearch is not a hosted AI service. The AnswerSearch app runs primarily on your own computer. When a question is not answered on-device, the local AnswerSearch engine sends the request directly to the configured AI provider using the API key you provide.

AnswerSearch currently supports Anthropic, using Claude, and OpenAI. On Apple silicon Macs, it may also use on-device AI for eligible processing if Apple Intelligence has been enabled. AnswerSearch is independent software and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or provided by Anthropic, OpenAI, or Apple.

Free Software

AnswerSearch is currently provided free of charge. You may use AnswerSearch for personal or business purposes, subject to these Terms.

ThisBrainAI LLC may change, suspend, or discontinue AnswerSearch, or release paid versions or paid features in the future. If that happens, any new payment terms will be presented separately.

AI Provider Accounts and API Keys

To use AnswerSearch, you need your own account and API key with the configured AI provider. An API key is a private access code that lets AnswerSearch send requests to that provider on your behalf.

You are responsible for creating and maintaining your AI provider account, protecting your API key, managing billing or credits, and complying with the provider's terms and policies.

ThisBrainAI LLC does not provide, resell, bundle, or manage AI provider API access. ThisBrainAI LLC does not receive payments for AI provider usage and does not control provider pricing, billing, account access, policies, availability, or output.

Relationship With AI Providers

AI providers are independent third parties. Their services are governed by their own terms, policies, and privacy practices.

AnswerSearch may help you connect to an AI provider, but ThisBrainAI LLC does not operate that provider's service. Provider outages, billing issues, model changes, policy changes, account restrictions, or service errors are the responsibility of the provider, not ThisBrainAI LLC.

AI-Generated Answers

AI-generated answers may contain mistakes. Verify important information.

AI-generated answers may also be incomplete, outdated, inappropriate, or unsuitable for your situation. Do not rely on AnswerSearch or AI-generated answers as a substitute for professional advice, especially for medical, legal, financial, safety, or other high-stakes decisions.

You are responsible for reviewing answers before relying on them or sharing them with others.

Privacy

In summary, AnswerSearch is designed to operate locally. Questions may be answered on-device or sent directly from the local AnswerSearch engine to the configured AI provider. ThisBrainAI LLC does not collect your questions, answers, API keys, search history, local settings, or app usage analytics unless you voluntarily include question or answer text in an AI issue report.

If you choose to submit an AI issue report, you decide what information to include in that report.

User Responsibilities

You agree to use AnswerSearch lawfully and responsibly. You are responsible for:

• protecting your API key and local computer;
• complying with the configured AI provider's terms and policies;
• reviewing AI-generated answers before relying on them;
• avoiding use of AnswerSearch for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes;
• deciding whether to open or rely on third-party websites or sources.

Official Downloads and Updates

Official copies of AnswerSearch are distributed through the ThisBrainAI website, official app stores, official GitHub releases, or other channels authorized by ThisBrainAI LLC. You should download AnswerSearch only from official or authorized sources.

ThisBrainAI LLC may provide updates that add features, remove features, fix bugs, improve security, or change how the software works. ThisBrainAI LLC is not obligated to provide updates or support for any particular version.

Proprietary Software and Redistribution

AnswerSearch is proprietary software owned by ThisBrainAI LLC. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use AnswerSearch in accordance with these Terms.

You may not modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the software except where permitted by applicable law.

If you wish to redistribute, bundle, mirror, host, package, or otherwise make AnswerSearch available to others, please contact ThisBrainAI LLC first. Redistribution is not permitted unless authorized by ThisBrainAI LLC in writing.

Third-Party Services and Websites

AnswerSearch may interact with third-party services, including AI providers such as Anthropic and OpenAI, and may display or open links to third-party websites.

ThisBrainAI LLC does not control third-party services or websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, billing, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party services and websites is governed by their own terms and policies.

No Warranty

AnswerSearch is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, ThisBrainAI LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, and error-free operation.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ThisBrainAI LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from or related to your use of AnswerSearch.

ThisBrainAI LLC's responsibility is limited to the AnswerSearch software that it develops. ThisBrainAI LLC is not responsible for AI provider billing, AI provider availability, AI provider policy changes, provider-generated errors, AI-generated answers, third-party websites, or decisions you make based on AI-generated content.

Changes to These Terms

ThisBrainAI LLC may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will be posted on the AnswerSearch website. Continued use of AnswerSearch after updated Terms are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
